American Rootwork Association Code of Ethics 


The Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct are the ethical benchmark for members of the American Rootwork Association (ARA). Whether you are a practitioner, scholar-practitioner, scholar, or tradition-keeper, as an ARA member you are required to follow the Code of Ethics as well as submit an annual Professional Conduct Statement.

As a member of ARA, I will 

  • Uphold myself to a high standard of good character by demonstrating respect for self and others;
  • Act with integrity, competence, and diligence with the public, clients, prospective clients, employers, employees, and colleagues in my chosen career and profession.
  • Place the integrity of my profession and culture and the interests of clients above my own personal interests. 
  • Make the appropriate referral when confronted with situations and conditions above and beyond my area of expertise.
  • Practice and encourage others to practice in a professional and ethical manner that will reflect good charatcer on myself, my culture and my profession.
